Turmeric powder 
TURMERIC AND WEIGHT LOSS

INTRODUCTION: Turmeric is a yellow orange spice that adds colour to foods and drinks.  It belongs to the ginger family. The primary antioxidant in Turmeric is CURCUMIN -(An anti-inflammatory that has been used for centuries in medicine) Turmeric  is related to metabolic disorders.(www.livingtrong.com)

SHORT NOTE ON THE HEALTH BENEFITS:

(1) Turmeric offers cardiovascular protection

(2) It helps lower the bad cholesterol

(3) It protects against Alzheimer disease

(4) It may help  to prevent certain types of cancers.

(5) Research has shown that it inhibits cancer cell growth and METASTASIS (meaning it keeps cancer cells from spreading)-(www.theharvestkitchen.com)

(6) it is anti inflammatory

HOW CAN TURMERIC HELP IN WEIGHT LOSS?

Against the backdrop that Turmeric is anti inflammatory, obesity in itself is a kind of inflammation in the body, because it is stored up fat in the body. CURCUMIN,  which is the antioxidant in turmeric,  suppresses inflammatory messaging in many cells including PANCREATIC, FAT and MUSCLE cells.

LEMON, GINGER, TURMERIC AND HONEY MORNING DETOX:

RECIPE:
21/2 cups water
1 lemon (sliced,)
1 inch ginger (sliced)
1/8 tsp ground turmeric
2 tsp honey.


METHOD:

(1) Bring water to the boil.
(2) Turn of heat
(3) Add the lemon, Ginger, turmeric and honey
(4) Stir and allow to sit for, 30 mins
(5) Strain and drink at room temperature, morning and night.

NOTES : Reheat, if need be, but don't boil.

RECIPE:
1 lemon
1 cucumber
1tabsp honey
1 glass warm water
1 inch ginger (optional)

METHOD:
(1) Wash your lemon and cucumber thoroughly
                                                 
(2) Shred out the zest from the lemon,  then chop up the rest into bits
(3) Cut up the cucumber into bits too.
(4) Place all ingredients in a blender
(5) Add the warm water and blend till its smooth
(6) Sieve into a cup. Add  your spoon of honey if desired
(7) Stir and drink. First thing in the morning and last thing at night and wake up lighter, stronger and happier the next morning.

NOTES: (a) Addition of ginger is optional. It depends on the taste desired. The taste is equally awesome

(b)  For a yummier taste, a little bit of fresh yogurt could be added. This enhances it, such that it could now serve as a weight loss diet fully packed with all the required nutrients. Below are the different pictures of preparation:
