INTRODUCTION: The ugu leaf otherwise called TELFAIRIA OCCIDENTALIS scientifically or FLUTED PUMPKIN LEAF is native to West Africa, with particular reference to Southern Nigeria; Ghana, Cameron and Sierra Leone. It is known to be rich in vitamins, minerals and antioxidants. It is commonly used to treat anaemia and diabetes. It is frequently used in soups and stews and sometimes juiced, especially when an anemic case is treated.
