INTRODUCTION: It is said that lemons are acidic to taste. But are alkaline forming in the body. Lemons are one of the most alkaline forming foods or fruits; hence great for balancing a highly acidic condition in the body. It is a fruit consumed all over the world and are essential in kitchens and everywhere.
Lemons are great source of vitamins C and fiber. It contains minerals and essential oils. Eating lemons may help cover the risk of heart disease, cancer and kidney stones. HEALTH BENEFITS OF LEMONS:
a) CITRIC ACID: Lemons constitutes citric acid, which is a natural preservative. It aids and smoothens digestion. It helps in dissolving kidney stones.
b) VITAMINS C: this, also called ascorbic acid is found in large quantities in lemons, it helps the human body develop resistance against infections like cold and flu. This basically means that, It is a primary antioxidant that helps protect cells from damaging free radicals, hence reducing the risk of cardiovascular disease, stroke and blood pressure.
The Vitamins C in lemons also helps in reducing skin wrinkling and dry skin. It keeps the skin looking fresh and glowing.
c) PHYTONUTRIENT TANGERETIN: The lemon peel contains the potent (Phytonutrient Tangeretin- phytonutrients are chemicals found in plants, which help protect them from germs, fungi bugs and other threats. Tangeretin on the other hand is a phytonutrient that has been proven to be effective for brain disorder, like Parkinson's disease, helps prevent cancer, protects the nervous system, reduce blood pressure etc.
